How To Make The Hoildays Less Stressful With Your Family...

Be’Inspired

Hola Fierce Feminina,

We are almost there! Only a few more days left till Christmas. This is always an exciting time for me and my family. We are making cookies and wrapping presents as well as seeing family members we haven’t seen in a while.

Last week, we talked about grief and loss around the holidays and many of you reached out to us. We are glad we were able to provide some comfort for many of you who were experiencing grief and loss. 😊

Nevertheless, what about those awkward situations with your crazy old aunt or a brother who doesn’t parent their children the same way you do? If that’s your holiday experience, here are a few tips to help you navigate family dynamics.

The holiday season is a time for joy, celebration, and spending time with loved ones. However, for some, it can also be a time of stress and anxiety, especially when it comes to navigating family relationships. With so many expectations and emotions running high, it can be challenging to know how to handle certain situations. Here are a few tips to help you navigate your family relationships this Christmas:

  1. Set boundaries: It's important to establish clear boundaries and communicate them with your family. If there are certain topics that make you uncomfortable or certain behaviors that you don't want to tolerate, let your family know in a kind and respectful way.

  2. Be flexible: Remember that everyone has their own traditions and ways of celebrating the holidays. Be open to compromise and try to find a way to accommodate everyone's needs and wants.

  3. Practice empathy: Put yourself in your family members' shoes and try to understand where they're coming from. Everyone has their own struggles and challenges, and showing empathy can go a long way in building stronger relationships. (This is one of my favorites)

  4. Take care of yourself: Don't forget to prioritize your own well-being during the holiday season. Take breaks when you need them, practice self-care, and don't feel guilty for setting boundaries or saying no to certain activities. (Bath bombs from Lush, amazing!)

Remember, the holidays are meant to be a time of love and connection. With a little bit of effort and understanding, you can navigate your family relationships and create happy memories that will last a lifetime.

It's also important to keep in mind that not everyone has the same family situation. Some people may not have any family to spend the holidays with, while others may have difficult relationships with their loved ones. If this is the case for you, remember that it's okay to reach out for support. You may want to spend some time with friends too.

The holiday season can also be a time of reflection and gratitude. Take a moment to appreciate the people in your life who bring you joy and support you throughout the year. Consider reaching out to old friends or family members you haven't spoken to in a while, or volunteering your time to help those in need.

This season is also a great opportunity to practice generosity and kindness towards others. Whether it's donating to a charity or simply holding the door open for someone, small acts of kindness can make a big impact.

So as you navigate your family relationships and holiday festivities, remember to spread love and positivity wherever you go. There are lots of great ideas here! Use some or all of them.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
